We lean on our tremendous friends and extensive relationships in the local food community to bring talent, skills and creativity into our community. We emphasize health and economy in what we prepare. Students are taught an overview of the Serv Safe food safety requirements and are held to those standards whenever we’re in the kitchen. Additionally, the job shadowing experience places the students in a restaurant kitchen, food retail store or other commercial kitchen to reinforce the skill set introduced in our own classroom kitchen. And each day, once the kitchen is cleaned up, we enjoy whatever we’ve created, allow time for students to engage with the chef and debrief together.
